Goldman May 3, 1924 - November 21, 2019 Neilson Goldman passed away peacefully on November 21, 2019. Neil was born in St. Louis, Missouri on May 3, 1924. He was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Maxine. He is survived by their three children: Larry Goldman of Dallas, Nancy Wolf (Russ Apfel) of Austin, and Cathy Burns (Larry) of Chicago. His legacy lives on with a very large family of 20 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. Neil packed his 95 years of life with an unquenchable thirst for learning and adventure. While Neil made his living in the mens clothing industry, he had many other interests. Music was very important to Neil, both as a participant in choirs as well as pursuing lessons in guitar and keyboard. Neil continued to study Torah and Judaics throughout his life. He acknowledged special life events in the lives of his children and grandchildren by composing a personal poem for each one. These poems reflected his creativity and his sense of fun, while capturing the essence of the individual being honored. Neilson served in the Army as an air navigational specialist during World War Two, and was a passionate member of the Jewish War Veterans for many years. He was most proud of his tenure as National Commander of the Jewish War Veterans from August 1995 through November 1996 which allowed him the opportunity to travel the world as the face of Jewish War Veterans. He was also instrumental in the growth of the National Museum of American Jewish Military History in Washington DC., where he served on the Board of Directors. Neil's legacy lives on through the love his of his family, country, and Jewish faith.
