42. Michael BERNSTEIN^57,78,79 was born on 14 June 1958 in Gary, Indiana, USA. He died on 15 May 2013 at the age of 54 in Madison, Wisconsin, USA.^74,79 MADISON - Michael A. Bernstein passed away peacefully May 15, 2013, at the age of 54.
Mike was born and raised in Gary, Ind., until the age of 15, when he moved with his father, Al and his brothers, Jeff, Doug and Greg to Madison. He graduated from Memorial High School and went on to study at the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point. He got his BFA in metallurgy from UW-Madison. Mike pursued his love of art with versatile mediums, including furniture design. He loved his craft and received many accolades from his peers and won many competitions. He enjoyed hunting with his family and friends and spending time with his “adopted” family at “Far-Away” property. He loved riding his motorcycle and traveling out West, sometimes with a brother, friend or solo. He loved sitting around having conversations and sharing information on almost any subject. Mike was a well-read person with a great mind, remembering and recanting statistics and facts about science and collectibles or any subject that interested him.
Most of all he enjoyed talking about his two wonderful daughters, Alex and Gabi. They were so special to him. He loved being a father and a friend to his girls and always proud to show them off. He was definitely a “family” man. His life came to an end too soon, and we shall all miss him terribly.
He is survived by his mother, Ruth Bernstein; father, Alfred (Danalin) Bernstein; daughters, Alexandra Bernstein and Gabriella Bernstein; ex-wife, Catherine (Henry) Lay; brothers, Jeffrey (Joan) Bernstein, Douglas (Susan) Bernstein and Gregory (Robin) Bernstein; uncle, Louis (Bette) Bernstein; seven nephews and nieces, Jeffrey, Jessica, Maya, Leah, Harris, Slater Bernstein and Hannah (Paul) Steblay-Olson; cousins, Kenneth Bernstein and his children and Roger Bernstein (Erica) and their children.
